Sarah Abdullah
Sarah is a creator, a storyteller, and a space-holder.
A passionate author and poetess, she has performed her verses on many stages. She serves on the judging panel for “The Poetry for all” competition.
Born in Lebanon and raised in Dubai—the city of dreams—she describes herself as “a شجرة زيتون في حضن صحراء”—an olive tree in the heart of the desert.
Her book, Kam Tushbihuny (كم تشبهني), published by Kalimat Group, was selected for the BRAW Amazing Bookshelf at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. She is the author of five books, including Thikra Lil Bay’, Sadeeqi Ahmar, and The Dream Factory.
Beyond literature, she proudly embraces the titles of songwriter, screenwriter, and performer.
She received the Seddiqi Fellowship from the Emirates Literature Foundation for her debut novel-in-progress.
Professionally, Sarah has worn many creative hats: she served as Head of Production at Leo Burnett, one of the region’s leading advertising agencies, and later founded Makooky, an edutainment startup recognized as App of the Day by Apple, where she merged creativity, education, and technology to bring Arabic storytelling to life.
Whether through poems, picture books, screenplays, or novels—Sarah believes that stories are vessels of healing, rebellion, and return.
